At 180 Medical, we live our values of compassion and service through support in our communities across the country. Just one way we love doing this is by participating in and sponsoring annual Spina Bifida Association Walk-N-Roll events. 180 Medical is proud to be a Silver Sponsor of this year’s virtual National Day of Walk-N-Roll for Spina Bifida. That’s why we’d like to talk about how important this event is for the spina bifida community. Plus, we’ll let you know how you can get involved!
The Fun and the Importance of Spina Bifida Walk-N-Roll Events
Walk-N-Rolls are some of the largest fundraising events for the Spina Bifida Association. According to the Spina Bifida Association (SBA), the 25 Walk-N-Roll events in 2019 involved over 5,600 participants and raised over $540,000.
The money raised for Walk-N-Rolls goes directly toward advocacy efforts such as Teal on the Hill, education, support for families and individuals with spina bifida, and research to learn more about this condition.
These events are always a blast for everyone involved. In-person events include a one-mile walk, run, or roll, which is inclusive and non-competitive. Plus, each location has games, food, face painting, surprise visitors in costumes like Ghostbusters and Star Wars characters, and much more.
Normally, the Spina Bifida Association holds its Walk-N-Roll events in cities all over the United States. However, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the Spina Bifida Association has decided to go virtual in 2020 for one National Day of Walk-N-Roll for Spina Bifida.
2020 Virtual Walk-N-Roll for Spina Bifida
The 2020 Virtual Walk-N-Roll for Spina Bifida is on Sunday, October 25th, which is also World Spina Bifida Awareness Day. However, since the event is virtual this year, you might be wondering what the day will look like.
The Walk-N-Roll will be live on the Spina Bifida Association’s event page. You can join thousands of others in the spina bifida community virtually!.
